Understanding Dementia

This module provides CNAs with an in-depth understanding of dementia, covering its definition, symptoms, causes, and various types. Participants will gain insight into how dementia affects the brain, especially in conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease. The course will also explore the challenges faced when caring for residents with dementia and Alzheimer’s, offering practical techniques to enhance care, improve communication, and create a supportive environment. It is designed to equip CNAs with the knowledge to provide empathetic, effective care to individuals experiencing cognitive decline.
